Established in March 23, 1989,  there were only 70 members in the beginnig of the establishment. Following the rapid developmnet of the industry, the number of members was raised to more than 800 by January 2001. It has become an organized and energetic industrial association among all free trade union in Taiwan. For many times, TLFEA was elected as one of the most outstanding associations and was awarded by the Ministry of the Interior.

　　It has been 13 years now since the establishment of TLFEA, and the board of directors and board of supervisors were reshuffled for four times. Mr. Tai-Ping Wang was the chairman of the first board of directors three Mr. Johnny Lin was the second Mr. Paul Chen was the third. Now the present chairman is Mr. Abi Hong During these 13 years, under Mr. N. P. Chen was the fourth the direction of the five chairmen, all directors and supervisors worked in harmony, and with the effort made by the staff and the fellow members, the business of the association has been growing steadily and smoothly, and the result of international expansion of the association was recognized by industrial, government and educational institutions in Tawian. Especially the effort that TLFEA made in promoting the advancement of the industry, organization of international lighting fair, foreign expansion of the industry manufacturers in the mainland, all are regarded as very important events in the history of TLFEA. In the organization of TLFEA, the board of supervisors and board of directors under membership assembly are set up to take responsibility for the operation and supervision of the association.

　　Membership assembly is held once a year, it is the highest authority of TLFEA. The board of directors is composed of twenty-seven directors who are elected from membership assembly, and nine of them are further elected to become executive directors of the board, and a chairman will be selected from these executive directors as the legal representative of TLFEA. To develop the association and expand the business, the present board of directors has set up several committees and social gathering department. The board of supervisors is composed of nine supervisors who are elected from membership assembly, three of them are further elected to become the executive supervisors of the board, and a convener will be elected form these executive supervisors.
